1. Connect the extender to a computer or mobile device using default SSID.
2. Browse the link: “http://extender.linksys.com” or “192.168.1.1”.
3. Use the wireless range extender option. Click Next.
4. Select the Wi-Fi but make sure it’s of 2.4 GHz bandwidth.
5. Wait till WiFi credentials appear or if the SSID is hidden, scroll down to enter the network name and password manually.
6. Click Next. Now you have to configure the extended wireless network.
7. Either continue with default settings or modify yourself.
8. Click Next if the Spot Finder shows that the Linksys RE6300’s location is perfect. This decides the signal strength between the extender and the router.
9. Change the default password to secure your connection.
10. You will be prompted to register your product.

The Linksys RE6300 setup is available in two modes:

Wired Range Extender Access Point mode- which needs an Ethernet cable connected to the existing network.

Wireless Range Extender mode – If the extender is in Access Point mode, the top header will display Dual Band Wireless Access Point.  If it is on Range Extender mode, the top header will show Dual-Band Wireless Range Extender.

You can switch modes from the Basic Settings.

Browse the web UI setup of your range extender. You can log in the below-mentioned ways:

1. Type extender.linksys.com in the Address bar.
2. Type the range extender’s IP address.​

If the extender is not yet configured, its default IP address will be 192.168.1.1.  Once you configure,  you need to check for the IP address in the DHCP lookup table

Manual update

4. Save the changes.

In order to reset the device to factory settings,  press and hold the Reset button on your extender for at least 5-10 seconds till the indicator starts blinking. Now you can access the setup page through the web UI.
